ACODESS fulfilled in 2004-2005 a programming study concerning the future healthcare system of the Northern District of Vanuatu ((Santo, Malekula, Ambae, Maewo, Pentecost and Ambryn Islands).

| Les deux volets de cette étude concernent d’une part, la réhabilitation et la remise à niveau de l’Hôpital régional du District Nord et d’autre part, le renforcement des capacités de l’ensemble des structures de soins en améliorant le système de référence et contre-référence, et les compétences des personnels de santé. |

This study is made up of two components : on one hand, the rehabilitation and the upgrading of the regional hospital of the Northern District, and on the other hand, the strengthening of the capacities of the whole healthcare system by improving : linkages and networking with other healthcare facilities of the Northern District (referral system) ; staff skills and competencies.

| L’équipe de l’ACODESS était composée de cinq experts, dont un spécialiste local, M. Batik Manusia. A l’issue des différentes visites de terrain, des rencontres avec les responsables du niveau central et local, des nombreuses réunions de travail avec les professionnels de l’hôpital et des centres de santé, l’ACODESS a remis à l’Agence Française de Développement et aux Autorités ni-vanuatu : |

ACODESS team consisted of five experts, of whom a local specialist, Mr Batik Manusia. As a result of the different visits on the ground, the various meetings with the Department of Health and the local partners, and the numerous briefing sessions with hospital professionals and primary healthcare facility staff, ACODESS presented to Agence Française de Développement and Ni-Vanuatu authorities :

- Le plan stratégique de l’hôpital de Santo,
- Une proposition de plan de formation,
- Une proposition de programmation technique détaillée pour la réhabilitation de l’Hôpital Régional de Santo,
- Une étude préliminaire sur les besoins en équipements biomédicaux et autres matériels pour l’hôpital,
- Une proposition de couverture généralisée des formations sanitaires en énergie solaires et en radiocommunication.
